Robe Belt

This is a quick and easy pattern for a replacement robe belt. I lost the one that goes with mine, so I decided to sit down on whip one up right fast.

Materials Needed:

Any WW yarn (your choice of color)

Size H hook

Chain 5

Double crochet in third chain from hook and across (total 3 double crochet), chain 2 and turn

continue until the belt is desired length and finish off.

Simple, right? :)

VARIATION

For a bit of variation on this project, use two strands to make it slightly bigger, thicker, and stronger. After following the above instructions (only with two strands of yarn) take a complimenting color and slip stitch or single crochet all the way around it to make a border.

ALTERNATE USES

This can also be used as a regular belt. You can add tassels to the ends for a bit of extra flair. Or make appliques in your favorite shapes to tack onto one end to create a pseudo- buckle.

Another possible use is as a small dog leash. We recently decided to take our boys out, only we were short one leash. So, I grabbed my robe belt I made, doubled up one end and used a clip (like you’d use for keys to put on your belt loop [you can get these in multi-packs for a dollar at places like Dollar Tree and they come in shapes: fish, guitars, cars, shoes, just to name a few]). I weaved the clip through the stitches (doubled up end – meaning two stitches thick for extra strength) to attach it then clipped it to the chihuahua’s collar.  I made a loop on the other end and knotted it really tight to make a nice handle that fit around my wrist take make it easier to hold on to. It worked great.

I wouldn’t suggest using this for larger dogs as they could pull the stitching loose or break the yarn altogether. Nicky, the chihuahua, is only four pounds or I wouldn’t have used this at all. I plan to make a dog harness later, and I’ll be sure to post whenever I manage to get that completed—provided the boys cooperate when it comes to sizing them since we have three sizes of dogs: 20lb rat terrier, 7lb min-pin, and 4lb chihuahua.
