I’m just a thirty-something southern gal. Happily married to the man of my dreams with four wonderful kids, two dogs, two cats, scores of fish, loads of plants and more video games than a rental store. I read and write romance, though that’s on another blog under my pseudonym, Heather Holland. I crochet and attempt to knit. I love music and forensics and TV shows and movies. And I love to fish. I’m just your average gal from the south, who has a very active imagination and too much time on her hands.

I’ve had this blog for a while, but I wasn’t really sure what to do with it until now. I’ve been creating a lot of things lately, and decided I needed a place to show case them. So, here we are. This will be the one stop shop for all my crafting talk, be it crochet, knit, plastic canvas or whatever else I decide to come up with. Check back often, because you just never know what I’ll come up with next.

There will be some free patterns shared here, as well as information on patterns I have for sale, when they become available that is. I’ll keep you posted.

I call myself a mimic. Why? Because I don’t really use patterns. I do sometimes, other times I merely use them as a guide, but most of the time, I forgo the pattern altogether because I was never taught to properly read one and they tend to confuse me. I never learned all the abbreviations and there are stitches that I’m either not familiar with or can do but don’t realize the technical name for because I learned crochet from my grandmother, and she wasn’t much of a pattern person. Basically, if I see it, I can figure it out or get pretty darn close. I’m frequently sitting down with hook and yarn and making things up as I go, kind of like how I work when writing: blank page, no real idea where I’m going, yet I’m somehow manage to find myself going there anyway. :) I’m slowly breaking out of my comfort zone when it comes to crochet ( I was taught to make afghans [basic 150 DC by 60 rows]) and stepping into the world of creating wearables. Since I took the plunge, I haven’t looked back.

My crafts of choice are crochet and plastic canvas. I’m delving into the world of knit and jewelry making. I also like to draw and paint, though I’m not very good at it, and I don’t think I can sew to save my life (which makes cross stitch a beast), though that doesn’t stop me from trying. Basically, if it’s got to do with arts & crafts, I’m willing to give it a try.
